Is this something whose time has come?

How would it be implemented?

What types of Service would be allowed?

If the Bamster has his way, it WILL be implemented, and not in a way we like. And the likes of us probably won't be allowed to participate.

I used to do a lot of volunteer work, especially with kids and seniors. I think that should count, and anybody who was every in the military should be counted, too.

In one of his speeches Heinlein clarified what type of service he meant in the novel and it wasn't just Military. I'll see if I can find a link to that after lunch today.

It was much more inclusive than those who call Heinlein a fascist would admit.

Yep. I remember that. I used to read a LOT of Heinlein.
